ClubGlider signs agreement with Sun MountainPosted on 09/25/2007
As promised, I am keeping everyone up to speed with the latest developments of ClubGlider. I am excited to announce that last Friday we came to terms with Sun Mountain on a licensing agreement that will allow ClubGlider to leverage the patent with an innovative organization.
From the beginning we believed the golf market would be a tough business to break into and in order to be successful we would need to align ourselves with the right company. The thought of trying to build our organization from scratch was daunting with so many big players already in the space our chance of success was limited.
Accepting this, we put together a list of attributes that a company would need to have in order to be the right fit, below is the list we used:
- Name Brand Recognition
- Experience in the Golf Industry
- Innovative
- Quality Products
- Direct Mfg. and Distribution channels
- Respected Sales force that is strong in the Green Grass (on course golf shops) and Retail
- Management Team looking for a long term relationship
- Not currently strong in the Travel Bag part of the business
When we put that list together there was really one company that stood out above all others, Sun Mountain .
Some background on Sun Mountain :
- Been in the golf business for over 20 years (the founder Rick is truly an innovator)
- Created the modern day Carry Bag with legs that extend when placed on the ground - 1986
- Introduced the three wheeled push cart (Speed Cart) - 1999
- Brought to market last year the best rain gear available (Rain Flex)
- Currently sells their products globally
Obviously this is a strong organization and they are excited about the opportunity to add ClubGlider to their product offerings . They believe ClubGlider will truly propel them forward in a market in which they really did not have a strong presence. Sun Mountain is looking to officially launch ClubGlider at the PGA Show in Orlando in January. Product pricing and models to be offered are still being ironed out; however they are looking to multiple models utilizing the ClubGlider technology.
For me, I am just honored and thrilled to be part of such a strong company and believe they are going to do an amazing job bringing ClubGlider to market. They have asked that I continue to be involved in the ongoing product development of the different ClubGlider models and will be a part of the launch team in Orlando .
I am also in the process of designing a Travel Edition bag that will incorporate the ClubGlider technology; this will allow the traveling sales rep. the ability to easily navigate their products from client to client. This area is exciting to me as there are many different applications such as the Apparel, medical, and tradeshow industries. At this time I am working with Sun Mountain to OEM the bag and we will be the sales arm of this off shoot opportunity.
I am still looking into several other verticals such as Snowboard, Field Sports (baseball, softball, hockey, polo, lacrosse), and Hard Case travel bags in hopes to align with the premier brands in those respective industries and license the ClubGlider technology to them as well. So if you have any contacts at Burton , Easton , or Pelican please let me know as they are my next calls.
That is all for now, but stay tuned…
